Holler Mission Camp Goals 2011!

I'll admit, 2 months ago I was rather uncertain about the future of Holler Ministries. I guess that was a good spot to be in because we can never really be certain of anything, except Christ's unchanging nature.

Literally, everyone was leaving the Holler accept us. For the 1st time in 3 years Rebekah and I would be alone in this work. The tasks at hand seemed so daunting, I wasn't sure what would succeed. One day I ask Brackin, who has 5 years of camp experience, "how do I promote the camp?" He replied with a list of wonderful ideas that would likely work, but each idea seemed to be another nail in the coffin. There was no way I could possibly do all of this... alone.

Later I found out that Brackins heart went out to me in that moment and it was an event that helped confirm his coming back. Now he, his family and the Salthouses are coming back. Brackin has already begun to work on camp part time and will take on full time responsibilities in the new year.

We're focusing on one style of camp this year, mission camp. We've come up with an updated mission statement 4 goals to help communicate the vision:

Mission: To be a youth mission's camp with a community atmosphere for Christ-like discipleship. Young people will be challenged from the Word of God and taught how to live it through mission simulations, service projects, worship and simple recreation.

Goals:

Christ: Explore what it means to be a disciple and to make disciples of Christ.

Church: Examine your role as a participant in Christ's body, the church.

Culture: Experience international cultures and languages to increase your ability to engage in missions.

Compassion: Embrace God's heart for the poor and nurture compassion for the impoverished.
